What is ADR Training?
ADR Training is mandatory driver training for the carriage of dangerous goods by road under ADR Regulations. The training confirms that an ADR driver understands safety, legal duties, and emergency procedures before transporting regulated substances.
ADR training courses apply to HGV drivers and form part of recognised HGV Training and Driver CPC Training. Completion leads to an ADR Certificate (also called an ADR licence), which proves professional competence for transport operations involving hazardous loads.
Who needs ADR training?
Any ADR driver transporting regulated goods across packaged loads or tankers requires ADR qualification alongside standard automotive courses and CPC. The outcome ensures lawful carriage, reduced risk, and verified ADR qualification (ADR training certificate) for commercial operations.
ADR Training Courses
All drivers of vehicles carrying dangerous goods, in scope of the ADR provisions, must attend a Department for Transport approved training course in order to be legally qualified to transport and/or move such loads. They are necessary because law makes these requirements part of the dangerous goods industry responsibility, a regulatory requirement, to help keep the transportation of dangerous goods safe.
ADR for the first time or refresher/renew existing qualifications. After successfully completing our course and passing your multiple choice exams, your ADR Certificate & ID Card will be issued by Department for Transport (DfT) and is valid for 5 years. Exam methods on the computer. All examinations must be sat on completion of your training course.

Our initial and refresher courses are DVSA approved for the purposes of Driver CPC Periodic Training. ADR training can count towards 28 hours (max) Driver CPC Periodic training. Refresher / Renewal ADR training must be taken 6 to 8 weeks before ADR expires.
