Passenger Assistant Training Scheme (PATS)

WHO IS THE COURSE FOR?

The Passenger Assistant Training Scheme (PATS) has been developed for people who assist passengers whilst travelling on minibus, taxies etc. Passenger Assistants can be by many different names such as passenger escorts, passenger carers, care assistants and helpers. This course has been developed by MiDAS to improve safety standards for people who need assistance, care and supervision when travelling. 

WHAT'S THE AIM OF THE COURSE?

This course is available to any organisation that employs uses or supplies passenger assistants (paid employees or volunteers). 

PATS will help passenger assistants:

  • Improve passenger and PA safety

  • Improve passenger comfort

  • Meet legal and contractual responsibilities

  • Meet the needs of passengers

  • Develop skills and wider knowledge

  • Increase PA confidence and reduce stress

  • Receive/gain formal accreditation


PATS is a modular programme, as follows:

  • Module A: The Role of the Passenger Assistant

  • Module B: Assisting Passengers with Disabilities

  • Module C1: Supervising Children/ Young People with Special Needs

  • Module C2: Working with Adults who Require Special Care

  • Develop skills and wider knowledge

  • Increase PA confidence and reduce stress

  • Receive/gain formal accreditation

What does the course include?
